Going to a concert in Manila: venues, traffic, and Philippine Arena
Manila is one of Southeast Asia’s liveliest concert markets, with famously enthusiastic crowds. What needs the most preparation is not the ticket but <b>travel time</b> — and which venue you are going to decides most of that.
The main venues and where they are
- SM Mall of Asia Arena (MOA Arena) — in Pasay on the bay, near the airport. Hosts a great many international concerts, with a mall and hotels in the complex.
- Smart Araneta Coliseum — in Cubao, Quezon City, to the north-east. A long-established venue with LRT-2 and MRT-3 stations nearby.
- New Frontier Theater — also in Cubao, smaller, for fanmeetings and mid-sized shows.
- Philippine Arena — in Bocaue, Bulacan province, outside Manila. A very large indoor arena for the biggest shows. 1.5–2 hours by road from the centre depending on traffic, with no rail.
Traffic is the biggest variable
Metro Manila traffic is hard to imagine until you have been in it. Ten kilometres can take over an hour at peak or in rain. Every travel plan needs a wide margin.
Ride-hailing (Grab) is the main option for visitors. After a show prices surge and waits are long; many people walk some distance out of the area before booking.
Rail (LRT/MRT) helps for Araneta, but does not reach MOA Arena’s door and does not reach Philippine Arena at all.
Philippine Arena: plan it separately
If your show is at Philippine Arena, treat it as its own trip. The venue is outside the city, has no rail, and after the show tens of thousands leave an area served only by road.
Many people stay nearby for a night, or use organiser or fan-group transport where offered. Do not book an early flight the next morning.

- Arrive earlier than feels necessary — for the traffic, and because entry queues at MOA Arena can be very long.
