Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani: the train to MT02, and why it is not Thunderdome Stadium

Two almost identical names, one complex, one station. Thunder Dome is an indoor hall of about 3,500 seats where a great many fanmeetings and mid-sized concerts happen; Thunderdome Stadium is a football ground of about 15,000 close by, which sometimes becomes an open-air concert venue. Read your ticket first, then the route.

Thunder Dome and Thunderdome Stadium are two places

  • Thunder Dome (ธันเดอร์โดม): an indoor multi-purpose hall of up to about 3,500 seats, per its official site. It stands on Popular 3 Road, Ban Mai, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, next to the Impact complex. Fanmeetings, fancons and mid-sized concerts play here.
  • Thunderdome Stadium (ธันเดอร์โดม สเตเดียม): a football ground of about 15,000, home of Muangthong United, formerly Yamaha Stadium (2009–2012) and SCG Stadium (2012–2020). A concert here is an open-air one.

ThaiTicketMajor lists Thunder Dome and Thunderdome Stadium as separate venues. The whole difference is the word Stadium on the ticket, the poster and the sales page — and it decides whether you sit in an air-conditioned hall or stand outdoors.

When both have a show

The two are a short walk apart, so some days both are busy. One example: on 14 and 15 November 2026, D.O. (Doh Kyung Soo) plays his DAY OFF tour at Thunder Dome, while BamBam, JAY B and Mark Tuan play 2026 K-Pop Masterz Special Live at Thunderdome Stadium, per All Ticket’s listing and ThaiTicketMajor’s announcement. Both start in the late afternoon or evening.

On days like that the station, the roads in and the queue for cars afterwards are several times as busy. Arrive earlier than usual, agree a precise meeting point with friends rather than "at Thunder Dome", and plan the way home before you go in. By train: Lake Muang Thong Thani (MT02)

Since mid-2025 the MRT Pink Line monorail has had a branch into Muang Thong Thani. It has just two stations: IMPACT Muang Thong Thani (MT01), for Impact Arena and the Challenger Halls, and the terminus Lake Muang Thong Thani (MT02), for Thunder Dome, Thunderdome Stadium and IMPACT Lakeside. IMPACT itself sends Thunder Dome audiences to MT02.

  • From the BTS Sukhumvit Line: ride to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat (N17) and change to the Pink Line towards Nonthaburi Civic Center.
  • On the Pink Line: get off at Muang Thong Thani (PK10) and change to the branch train.
  • On the branch: two stops, through MT01, to MT02.

With two changes, allow at least an hour from central Bangkok. If your show ends late, check the branch’s last train before you set out; do not guess.

Taxis, Grab and getting home

  • Going: about 45 minutes to over an hour from central Bangkok, depending on traffic. Thunder Dome is near the Bang Pa-In – Pak Kret expressway.
  • Leaving: a few thousand people leave the hall at once, many times that if the stadium has a show too. Fares surge and drivers cancel; walking to MT02 is usually quicker than waiting for a car.
  • If you still want a car: set the pickup a short walk from the gates, or eat for 30–45 minutes and let the crowd thin first.

When to arrive, and what to bring

  • Paper tickets collected at the counter on the day, common with All Ticket and ThaiTicketMajor: come hours early, as collection has its own queue. Bring the passport in the buyer’s name.
  • Soundcheck, hi-touch or send-off benefits: the call time is usually well before doors. Read the organiser’s notice rather than working back from the show time.
  • Just watching: about 45 minutes before doors is right.
  • A screenshot of your e-ticket, because signal in a crowd is poor. A light jacket for an air-conditioned hall; a thin raincoat for an open-air stadium show, as umbrellas are usually not allowed in.

What to bring and what is usually banned: what to take to a concert.

Staying nearby

There are hotels inside the Impact complex, and for a late finish staying there saves the scramble for a car. On the other hand Muang Thong Thani is not where you see Bangkok; if the trip is for more than the show, stay central and take the train out.
