Buying concert tickets for a group: sitting together when each person can only buy a few
Going with friends is twice the fun and twice the trouble to buy for: limits, scattered seats, who pays, whose name is on the ticket. Most of it comes from not agreeing in advance.
Seats together come from one purchase
Two separate orders — even in the same second, same section — are seated independently and almost never side by side. For seats together, the tickets must be in one order by one person.
Limits
Nearly every show caps tickets per account, purchase or ID number, and the busiest shows cap hardest — sometimes two per person. Multiple accounts for one person breach most platforms' terms and can void every order.
A group larger than the limit
- Split into sub-groups the size of the limit, each bought by a real person on their own account.
- Accept in advance that you will sit in several clusters.
- Agree one preferred section and one fallback, so the clusters do not scatter.
Named tickets and money
- If tickets carry names and ID is checked, each person's details must be right from the start; gather them before the sale.
- The buyer pays the whole order: their card limit must cover it.
- Agree who pays what — face value plus actual fees — and what happens if only half the tickets come through.
