Thai ticket market vocabulary, explained

กดบัตร — "pressing" tickets

Roughly "kot bat". Literally "pressing the ticket": the act of sitting at the on-sale and buying. A neutral term, used for buying for yourself or for someone else.

You will see it in phrases like "กดบัตรไม่ทัน" — did not press in time, meaning they did not get one.

รับกดบัตร — taking booking requests

Roughly "rap kot bat". This is the closest equivalent to a camping or proxy booking service: taking orders to press tickets on someone’s behalf for a fee.

The service is common and openly advertised in Thailand, usually priced per ticket. The mechanism is the same: the customer orders first, the service buys, the customer pays face value plus the fee.

บัตรผี / ตั๋วผี — "ghost tickets"

Roughly "bat phi" / "tua phi". Literally ghost tickets, and the Thai equivalent of scalping: tickets held back to be resold above face value.

The term is clearly pejorative in Thai. It has been a long-running argument in Thai fan communities and in sport.

Note the distinction: รับกดบัตร is not บัตรผี. One buys to an order; the other holds stock and marks it up — the same line that separates camping from scalping anywhere else.

อัปราคา — marking up

Roughly "up rakha", combining English "up" with "ราคา" (price). Raising a ticket above face value on resale.

In Thai fan groups, being called คนอัปราคา is an accusation, not a description.

บัตรทิพย์ — "celestial tickets"

"ทิพย์" carries a sense of the divine or otherworldly, so the phrase means a ticket that never existed: money taken with no ticket behind it.

A different fraud from บัตรผี. A ghost ticket is real but overpriced; a celestial one is not there at all.

Why the vocabulary is worth having

Official announcements for Thai shows usually carry English, but the real discussion — who is selling, who is cheating, which round still has stock — happens in Thai. Machine translation loses the tone, and the tone is exactly what you need: whether an account is being called คนอัปราคา or being praised for actually delivering.
