What to bring to a concert, and what gets stopped at the gate

Every venue publishes its own list of banned items before the show, and that list is the one enforced at the gate. This is what nearly every show needs and what is usually stopped, so you know what to check in that notice.

You cannot do without

  • The ticket. An e-ticket open in the app or email; screenshot a static QR in case there is no signal at the gate, and for a live QR shown only in the app, log in before you arrive. Paper tickets: bring them.
  • ID, mandatory when the ticket carries the buyer's name and the show checks it. Abroad, your passport.
  • A charged phone, and a power bank if the venue allows one.
  • Some cash and a card, for drinks, merch and the ride back.

Usually stopped at the gate

  • Professional cameras, detachable lenses, video cameras.
  • Selfie sticks, tripods, long rigid objects.
  • Outside food and drink; glass bottles and cans.
  • Sharp objects, lighters, laser pointers.
  • Oversized banners and boards.
  • Umbrellas at stadiums — a thin raincoat is the usual substitute.

Not every venue bans all of this, and some ban more. What is kept at the gate is often not returned — read the notice first.

Power banks and bags

Some venues cap power-bank capacity or ban them. Large bags may be refused and not every venue has a cloakroom: a small bag is enough, and a suitcase straight from the airport is a bad idea.

Filming

Many shows ban filming during the performance or allow it only at a set moment. Follow the show's rule — staff can ask you to delete footage or leave.
