What a Thai concert ticket really costs: add 7% VAT, a 3% processing fee, ticket fees and foreign-exchange charges
Update 24 Oct: Eventpop’s help centre puts its card payment fee at 3% (Amex 4%), excluding VAT; ThaiTicketMajor offers an optional TTM Ticket Protect at 7% of the ticket price. The poster says 2,500 baht, so you prepare 2,500 baht. Then at checkout the number jumps. Nobody is cheating you: the listed price of a Thai ticket is usually before tax and before fees, and every platform adds them its own way. This guide goes through each item with real examples from three Bangkok shows that went on sale in October 2026, so you can add up the total before the sale opens instead of discovering it while the payment clock runs.
Five layers of price you may meet
- The listed price on the poster or the sales page: the number you compare tiers by.
- 7% VAT, when the page says the price excludes VAT.
- Platform fees: a payment-processing fee (a percentage), an issuing or plastic-ticket fee (a fixed sum per ticket), a counter-service fee.
- Bank charges: a foreign-transaction fee and your card’s exchange rate, which appear on the statement rather than on the sales page.
- A booking service’s fee, if you hire one. It is not part of the platform and it must be stated in advance: how service fees work.
The first three are visible before you pay, so they can be added in advance. The fourth is known afterwards; the fifth is known beforehand if you ask.
Example 1. Eventpop: BOSSNOEUL CROSSOVER
The poster and the Eventpop page for BOSSNOEUL CROSSOVER CONCERT say plainly: prices exclude 7% VAT, payment-processing fees, physical-ticket service fees and other fees. Eventpop does not state the processing fee on the event page. The final figure appears only at checkout.
VAT alone can be worked out at once (price × 1.07), before any other fee:
- The 2,500-baht tier → 2,675 baht.
- The 4,900-baht tier → 5,243 baht.
- The 8,900-baht tier → 9,523 baht.
- The 23,999-baht tier (VIP) → about 25,679 baht.
Example 2. ThaiTicketMajor: Lovers & Gangsters
ThaiTicketMajor’s page for Lovers & Gangsters: The Legend Begins says that paying by credit card, debit card, TrueMoney, ShopeePay, Alipay, WeChat Pay or QR PromptPay carries a 3% processing fee. Four prices: 2,500, 2,000, 990 and 790 baht.
- One 2,500-baht ticket: 2,500 + 75 = 2,575 baht.
- One 790-baht ticket: 790 + 23.7 = about 814 baht.
- Six 2,500-baht tickets (the most one document may buy for this show): 15,000 + 450 = 15,450 baht.
On some other ThaiTicketMajor shows a 30-baht service fee per ticket (ThaiTicketMajor calls it ค่าบริการ) is added as well: two 4,900-baht tickets paid by card then come to about 10,150 baht, not 9,800. The Lovers & Gangsters page does not mention that fee; always read the fee line of the very show you are buying. The platform: the ThaiTicketMajor guide.
Example 3. All Ticket: Happy BUSDAY 1+2=3
The sales terms of Happy BUSDAY 1+2=3 on All Ticket carry two kinds of fee at once:
- Fixed per ticket: 30 baht Counter Service fee and 20 baht for the plastic ticket. A 6,500-baht ticket becomes 6,550 baht before the payment fee.
- A percentage when you pay online: credit card 3.25%, TrueMoney 3%, Thai QR 1.5%. For the same ticket Thai QR is cheaper than a credit card, but for a buyer abroad Thai QR is usually not an option, so in practice it is the card.
The percentage applies to the amount shown at checkout; check the final figure before you pay. The platform: the All Ticket guide.
From baht to your own currency
The formula: total baht (with VAT and fees added) × the baht exchange rate, plus the foreign-transaction fee if your bank charges one. The rate moves daily and the fee depends on your card, so there is no single figure to print here; open your card’s fee schedule and work it out once.
Two things get forgotten in the budget: the card limit has to cover the whole order with fees, not just the listed price; and many banks block foreign transactions until you switch them on. Why cards are declined: paying for tickets abroad. Beyond the ticket there are flights, a room and food: what going to a concert abroad costs.
Adding it up in three minutes, before the sale
- Read the event page and look for two phrases: “exclude VAT” and “processing fee”.
- If there is VAT: multiply the price by 1.07.
- Add the fixed fee per ticket (if any) times the number of tickets; add the percentage fee on the total.
- Multiply by the exchange rate you see now and leave a little for rate movement and the foreign-transaction fee.
- Compare the result with your card limit; raise the limit before the sale, not during checkout.

Soalan lazim
Often not. The poster and Eventpop page for BOSSNOEUL CROSSOVER say the price excludes 7% VAT and other fees. Read each show’s “exclude VAT” line.
For Lovers & Gangsters it is 3% when paying by card, e-wallet or QR PromptPay. Some other shows add a 30-baht issuing fee per ticket.
On ThaiTicketMajor with a 3% fee: 2,575 baht. With 7% VAT (as on Eventpop): 2,675 baht before other fees.
For Happy BUSDAY: 30 baht Counter Service and 20 baht plastic ticket per ticket; paying on the web adds 3.25% by credit card, 3% TrueMoney, 1.5% Thai QR.
Take the total in baht with VAT and fees added, multiply by the exchange rate, and add your bank’s foreign-transaction fee if any. Rates and card fees change, so recalculate just before the sale.
