How to buy tickets on BookMyShow Malaysia
BookMyShow began in India, but its Malaysian edition is one of the busiest sellers of international concerts in Kuala Lumpur. For a buyer in Vietnam it is the easiest Malaysian platform to use — prepared in the right order.
The right edition, the right account
BookMyShow has editions per country. Malaysian shows sell on the Malaysian edition — follow the link in the promoter’s notice rather than searching and landing on the Indian or Singapore site. Accounts are not shared between editions.
Create the account days ahead, confirm your email, and use your passport name. A Vietnamese phone number usually registers, but confirm before the on-sale day.
At the on-sale
For busy shows BookMyShow holds buyers in a waiting room and admits them in turn when the doors open. Positions are usually drawn at that moment rather than by arrival — extra tabs do not help and can be read as abuse.
Once admitted you choose a tier or block and have a limited window to complete payment. When it expires the seats return to the pool.
Many Malaysian shows run presale rounds — for fanclub members, partner-bank cardholders, or early registrants — before the general sale. Presales usually hold the best seats; read the notice to see which round you qualify for.
Payment
Checkout lists that show’s methods. You will see FPX and Malaysian e-wallets first — skip them, they need a Malaysian account. Choose credit/debit card and use a Visa or Mastercard with international transactions enabled.
Expect a bank OTP — keep your phone to hand. If asked to pay in MYR or your home currency, choose MYR so your own bank converts rather than the merchant.
The platform’s processing fee is added per ticket and shown before you confirm.
Collection
E-tickets sit in your BookMyShow account and app with a QR code, usually activated close to the date. Some shows issue paper tickets or wristbands at a counter — the show notice will say.
Screenshot the QR before reaching the venue; signal at a packed Axiata Arena is unreliable.
If the show prints the buyer’s name and checks ID, a ticket bought on someone else’s account becomes a problem at the gate. Ask before hiring anyone.
Buy yourself or ask
BookMyShow Malaysia is the most self-serviceable platform in the region: English, international cards, e-tickets. Ask for help only when a show is contested enough to need more queue positions, or you cannot be at a screen at the hour.
