Concert, fanmeeting, fancon, fanday: what differs
These names get used interchangeably, including by organisers. The general distinctions help you predict scale and price, but the benefit table for a given show is the only reliable source.
Concert
Mostly performance. A long setlist, large stage production, a large venue. Little or no dedicated audience interaction.
The bigger venue means more tickets, though demand scales with it.
Fanmeeting
Interaction over performance: games, Q&A, talk segments, with a few numbers mixed in. A smaller venue than a concert.
This is the format most likely to carry interaction benefit tiers, and it has the fewest tickets — so it sells out fastest.
Fancon
Between the two: more performance than a fanmeeting while keeping the interaction. The name is a contraction of "fan concert".
The line between fancon and fanmeeting is not fixed, and two organisers may call the same format by different names.
Fanday and fansign
Fanday usually means a smaller single-day event, sometimes with several activities in sequence.
Fansign centres on autographs, usually in timed slots with very short conversations. Many fansigns are not sold openly but allocated by draw or tied to a purchase condition.
Why the benefit table beats the label
The event name is a marketing decision, not a technical definition. One "fanmeeting" may have more performance than another event’s "fancon".
What tells you what you are buying is that event’s own tier and benefit table. Read it first, then decide what you will pay.
คำถามที่พบบ่อย
Is there singing at a fanmeeting?
Usually a few numbers, fewer than at a concert. How many is set per event and rarely announced in advance.
Which format is hardest to get into?
Usually fanmeetings and fansigns, because they have far fewer tickets than a concert while demand is no smaller.
